Purpose

The Bed Buddy Commode is extremely beneficial because this bed attachment SAVES:

*TIME needed to relieve a patient’s discomfort.

*TIME the staff wastes hunting for equipment.

*HYGIENE – because it’s a personal item.

*SAFETY and the LIVES of patients who can fall – even with assist – due to weakness, pain,
medical status, and rushing.

*AND MILLIONS of dollars spent when injuries occur and lawsuits are initiated.

The commode is attached to the hospital bed and can be pulled out like a drawer. The bed is locked,

Story Behind the Invention

Diana Carrano
Helen Karchere

Inventors Helen Karchere of Bridgeport, CT and Diana Carrano of Woodbridge, CT have created a product that allows patients to perform bathroom duties in a manner which is not only quick, easy, and effective, but safe and dignified as well.

Helen and Diana have decades of experience as physical therapists working in all areas of the health care continuum. This experience includes acute care hospitals, rehab facilities, short term care centers, hospices, and home care agencies.

One of the greatest problems noted with patients is their toileting issues. Patients with pain, poor balance and weakness often take risks by attempting to get to the bathroom after long waits for assistance. Patients sometimes will get up on their own to prevent incontinence. Evidence shows that most falls in hospitals occur around toileting. Injuries from falls often result in fractures, lead to permanent decline of functional mobility, or even death. The sharing of “community commodes” and/or toilets can also lead to infections. It is for these reasons the Bed Buddy Commode will be highly beneficial and can potentially save millions of dollars.

The Bed Buddy Commode is Helen and Diana’s solution. Want to learn more? Be the first to contact us NOW for additional information.
